Position (Job Title) IT Manager – United Holdings Ltd
Reporting Line Reports to the General Manager Finance
Job Summary The IT Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the group’s computer systems (information systems) and related activities; helps determine the group’s information technology goals/objectives. IT manager assist develop, executes, and manages the group’s information technology plan, identifies, and recommends the appropriate technologies needed to meet the goals of IT. Maintains the existing information technology strategies and implement new strategies. The position includes the responsibility of provision
Job Specifications FINANCE

  • Ensure up-to-date inventory of IT equipment and make sure the IT annual budget is approved.
  • Managing expenditure by making sure that yearly expenditure is decreased.
  • Managing budget by making sure the actual versus budget variance is decreased.
  • Development of implementation process and budget for the IT Strategic plan.
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor key projects to ensure cost effectiveness and achievement of project goals.

 CUSTOMER AND INTERNAL STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure that ICT team provides a good service to the relevant stakeholders as per the agreed Service Level Agreements.
  • Improve customer engagement and customer service.
  • Improve system efficiencies and system security.
  • Negotiate and recommend entering into maintenance agreements with external suppliers as required to ensure support services.
  • Provide Technical support to internal clients according to SLAs. Ensure that all ICT Assets support business needs.
  • Responsible for technical systems support to users for all financial and HR/payroll applications on daily basis or as needed.
  • Responsible for documenting and clearly communicate business processes to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to standardize, streamline, and coordinate business and system processes.

 INTERNAL PROCESSES (OPERATIONS)

  • Identify and motivate projects that need approval and implementation.
  • Managing the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and supervision of IT projects.
  • Involved in System’ selection, implementations, and integrations.
  • Oversee ICT function for operations, security, and disaster management. Implement and maintain disaster recovery plan.
  • Reporting management information by producing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Management, Support and Development of all networks, servers, and infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies and procedure and assess their outcomes.
  • Recommending and sourcing of Information Technology solutions in a cost-oriented manner.
  • Prepare and /or implement procedures and systems within Company guidelines to ensure orderly, efficient workflow and design, develop, implement, and support solutions for the administration of facilities.
  • Ensure that all Company network and physical security policies are followed in relation to the infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of an information security policy including computer usage policy, internet usage policy and email usage policy.
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
  • Maintaining IT infrastructure, configuration documentation, asset records release Management.
  • Providing support and maintenance for the Company’s information technology infrastructure (servers, laptops, desktops, printers, and network devices.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT networks and in the administration of the databases and the server operating systems.

 LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT (PEOPLE)

  • Make sure that performance management is effective in the IT department.
  • Capacitate all insurance employees on ICT Security and Efficient use of IT Resources. Recommend trainings for IT staff.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to United Holdings vision and values.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with other staff as measured by 360 degrees.
  • Educate employees on effective use of systems and Cybersecurity.
  • Achieve minimum of 3 in the managers/supervisor’s behavioural competencies measured via 360 feedback system.
  • Ensure that performance management processes are adhered to timeously.
  • Ensure alignment to Company Strategy.
  • Managing and training staff when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business IT or equivalent.
  • Master of Science in Information Communication Technology or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Certificate in Project Management, ITIL, COBIT qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 – 5 years of Management experience.
  • Formal program/ project management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of network systems, quality standards and IT products and services.
